Mattias Söder coordinates ArcticSkills 21

When the whistle blows for the ArcticSkills final on Tuesday, you will be guided through  the program by Mattias Söder who has been in charge of the preparations from October 2020. In an interview he underlines the huge efforts of the experts

“The experts, in other words the vocational teachers appointed by each school, have had to consider how the competitions in each competence are to be carried out to make the conditions as fair as possible. One important factor has also been to decide how the different competences will be documented during the event in such a way that the experts can make fair assessments. The experts will be participating digitally via Teams during the entire competition day,” explains Mattias Söder, who is coordinator for the ArcticSkills host organisations the Arctic Vocational Foundation and Gränsälvsgymnasiet.

The broadcast itself is being managed by Norrmedia in Luleå.

“We ourselves have no experience of digital and streamed events and therefore we are incredibly pleased to have found Norrmedia in Luleå, whom we have enlisted. We will learn lots and will be many experiences the better for it,” says an enthusiastic Mattias Söder, who is multitasking as never before.

The competition will showcase vocational training

The fact that the competition is being streamed gives a unique opportunity for you to follow the competition no matter where you are located.

“Actually, this would not have been possible if the competition had been carried out at our centre in Övertorneå, which was the original plan before the pandemic. Of course, we hope that many will take this opportunity to follow the competition throughout the day. Our participation as a partner in ArcticSkills is intended to increase interest in vocational training options as a truly wise choice on today’s labour market,” say the hosts of this year’s ArcticSkills – Leif Lahti, Director of the Arctic Vocational Foundation and Katarina Lindberg, Head of Gränsälvsgymnasiet Upper Secondary School.

The competition will be broascasted for example on ArcticSkills hompage (arcticskills.com) and Facebook page or our own webpage: https://utbnord.se/om-utbildning-nord/kalender/806–arcticskills-2021.
