For 50 years the ArcticSkills partner in Övertorneå, Utdanning Nord, has been a key actor in the field of vocational education in the northern regions of Sweden, Finland, and Norway. Numerous students have graduated throughout the years, and the foundation has provided the labour markets in the High North with valuable working force.
This was highly appreciated and expressed when representatives from the stakeholders, the Board, previous directors, and colleagues from the school, celebrated their anniversary in the solemn halls of Stadshotellet in Haparanda last Friday. The anniversary was a variation of speeches, cheerful comments, and music. Not to mention the delicious local food prepared by a chef who has his education from the kitchens in Övertorneå. During the celebration we learned a lot about the school’s mission and results, and some of the speakers took us back to the first years of the Foundation.
Utbildning Nord and its neighbouring school, Gränsälvsgymnasiet are solid partners of ArcticSkills, and Robert Flatli, on behalf of the Lead Partner Kirkenes Upper Secondary School, honoured the jubilant with a Certificate of Honour, expressing the gratitude for their fine performance as hosts of ArcticSkills 2021. The same token of gratitude was awarded to Mathias Söder, who together with his colleagues managed to create an impressing online event this spring. Thank you to director Leif Lahti for inviting us to the celebration. It most certainly strengthened he bond between us.
