Welcome to ArcticSkills 2024 in Kirkenes!

We hereby invite you to the Tournament ArcticSkills 2024, this year, hosted by Kirkenes Upper Secondary School, March 20.  ArcticSkills is a competition between students of vocational skills from the Northern regions of Finland, Sweden, and Norway. The competition is built on the concept of WorldSkills.

In addition to the competition, it is our goal to use the tournament as a hub for everybody who takes an interest in developing the vocational skills either professionally or educationally in the high North. That is why we turn to you, hoping that you will take the opportunity to visit the competition, the ceremonies, and our annual workshop.

Focus on trade skills The Finnish competitors come from Tornio, Inari, Rovaniemi and Kemi. Norwegian students from Kirkenes, Alta, Karasjok, Kautokeino and Lakselv to form a strong National team. Swedish students come from Utbildning Nord and Gränsälvsgymnasiet in Övertorneå.

For the moment, we do not know the exact number of participants, but the organizing committee is prepared to welcome 100 + competitors and experts. In addition, guests from various companies, branches and organizations involved in developing the trade skills, will join the tournament.

Undoubtedly, the tournament will put focus on the trade skills in the Barents region

Program ArcticSkills 2024

The program comprehends a diversity of events, and they are all gathered on the exciting campus of Kirkenes Upper Secondary School. The competitors and experts start their preparation Tuesday evening. The competitors have trained together with their teachers long before they enter the arenas, but it is important to get acquainted with the workshops and tools, and especially, the criteria of assessment. This is important for fair play.

The tournament also offers a program for our guests, comprehending guided excursions in the area and on campus (in BOLD and BLUE letters)

The opening ceremony will take place at Thon Hotel, Tuesday evening, followed by dinner for all.

Wednesday is Competition Day.

Wednesday at 7 PM at Thon hotel, the prize ceremony, the closing ceremony and banquet will take place. The winners of the competitions will be announced. However, ArcticSkills is not only about creating winners. An important goal is to make friends and networks in the Barents-region and for this purpose a banquet will conclude the day.
